Poster Session February 12

(Submissions must be registered online by February 4, 2004.)

The intent of the poster session is to generate interest in current projects and facilitate communication between program members. Posters may have been presented previously at other meetings. Appetizers and wine will be served.

GENERAL GUIDELINES
Posters should measure 4 feet x 8 feet (121.92 cm x 243.84 cm), horizontal orientation. Posters should be affixed with pushpins (provided) on the assigned, freestanding poster frame. Use lightweight materials that will affix easily with pushpins. Include the title and authors at the top of the poster in 1-inch high letters. Keep illustrated material simple and make posters as self-explanatory as possible

Please arrive early to set up. Malinda Walker will be available to help on site.

Posters will be judged by:

Frank McCormick, PhD
Professor, Microbiology & Immunology
Director, Comprehensive Cancer

Russell Pieper, PhD
Associate Professor, Neurological Surgery

Hope Rugo, MD
Clinical Professor, Medicine

Marc Shuman, MD
Professor, Medicine and Cancer Research Institute

Eric Small, MD
Professor, Medicine and Urology

Frederic Waldman, MD, PhD
Professor, Laboratory Medicine and Urology

Posters will be entered in one of the following two categories:

1) Outcomes Research:
Epidemiologic, biochemical, and genetic research that identifies risk factors for developing cancer, or outcome. Prevention or therapeutic studies that influence treatment outcome. Imaging studies for detection, staging, determining response to treatment, or detecting recurrence.

2) Disease Mechanisms:
Research focused on genetic and molecular mechanisms of carcinogenesis, drug resistance, and cancer progression.

Awards will be given for:
  • best overall outcomes research poster
  • best brain outcomes research poster
  • best breast outcomes research poster
  • best prostate outcomes research poster
  • best overall disease mechanism poster
  • best brain disease mechanism poster
  • best breast disease mechanism poster
  • best prostate disease mechanism poster
